Going Nowhere
This world can seem
as confusing as a contranym,
a crumpled leaf turning in on itself.
◇
Must one sanction their soul
for liberty?
or has a long forgotten lullaby
been wafting in the open doorway beyond,
beseeching us to awaken
from the spell
woven by the charmers flute?
◇
The choice is ours,
but ears can hear only what
the heart allows.
◇
There is a price in crossing the threshold.
It means losing all you cling to
a price well worth gaining back the light that is our birthright.
◇
Like the joyful freshness of a child we find our true selves once again.
Finally, there is love the way it was meant;
communion with true beauty
in oneness with all things.
◇
We are, after all, the universe afloat in a tiny pond,
believing mostly the pond
is all that matters
◇
a peaceful truth then reaches in
as far as the world is wide
humming with the knowledge,
that even small ponds
somehow,
eventually,
wend their way back to sea.
