Stone and Breath
It has become somewhat of a ritual for me to give to the universe on my birthday month. I try to write truthfully about life and of loss, in order to recognize the hidden gifts in all of it, far beyond the lone being I happen to be. One person to be sure, is just a drop in the bucket, but enough drops together always hold within themselves the potential to become a wave.
“Blessed Be The Ties That Bind”
In a wink, an illumined word brightly woven can open a heart. Such a rhythmic rift can lead you back to yourself. A quickening of current flooding your soul as it rushes to meet the rhythm of stone and breath and bone.
◇
The foolish among us normalize separation, all the while ignoring the infinite cords of light alive in the rhythmic thrum of creation that binds us all.
◇
Follow the staff and measure of love that undergirds all things, and you will not just hear, but see music, through unbound eyes, witnessing the pure tone and pitch emanating throughout life, and finally realize why trees fall, pets die, war exists and things must be as they are.
◇
To be whole and human, is to stand still and listen. To make mistakes is to learn. Moving beyond our mistakes leads to humility and the opportunity of honoring the sacred.
Sacredness demands we set pretty pictures adrift in exchange for truth. It bids us get dirty, cry ugly tears and spit; then afterward to stand straight lifted by love.
Through grace, we may offer ourselves to the immense sea we call life and make it better; or at the very least, not make it worse.
Healing oneself helps the world.
Blessed be the ties that bind.

“ I Am A Wave”
I am a wave
a wave that reaches sky to kiss the sun.
A wave that drives the deep depth of heart, to probe pain and behold beauty.
A dauntless wave, because I know I will rise again and again to the light.
I am a wave
neverending
never beginning
in perfect flow
with all that is.
This month I dedicate this post to those who we have lost (and their families) due to the recent rise in hangings occurring here in the United States. As James Baldwin said "As long as there is breath in my body I will continue to have hope".
May the blind become willing to see. May the dark heart seek illumination. May all beings be free from suffering.

This touched a few sparks and a few wounds. Thank you for offering the gifts of both.
Happy birthday.
